The world moves fast, and sometimes, we need to slow down, pause for a moment, and give back to the community, especially the ones who need it the most.

Last June 19, the Virus team took a heartwarming break from our Thursday grind to Pause for the Paws. It was truly touching. We set aside a few hours for a paw-some Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at PAWS (The Philippine Animal Welfare Society).

Why PAWS?

Since 1954, PAWS has been dedicated to protecting and promoting the humane treatment of animals in the Philippines. Beyond providing shelter and medical care for rescued animals, they fight for stronger animal welfare laws and responsible pet ownership. space, medical care, and rehabilitation for neglected, abused, and abandoned animals.

This wasn’t our first time partnering with PAWS, and it definitely won’t be the last. Many of us at Virus are fur parents ourselves, so supporting an organization like PAWS is something close to our hearts. More than a CSR program, it’s something we believe in.

Just like how we immerse ourselves in the brands we work with, we wanted a way to connect deeper with our furry friends through an immersive activity while fulfilling our shared advocacy of better animal welfare.

A Pawpose-Driven Day 🐾

Our first activity was a tour of the shelter, where we learned about responsible pet ownership, the importance of animal adoption, the stories behind the rescues, and the ongoing work PAWS does to fight cruelty and improve animal welfare laws in the Philippines.

Boops and cuddles were given to the dogs and cats (with consent, of course!), and we also took photos to remember the day.

Later in the day, we rolled up our sleeves to help feed the animals. Tasks were divided among groups. Some of us washed the pet bowls, while others prepared and portioned the food. With guidance from the staff, we also helped distribute the food to every dog and cat. During the food distribution, we were happy to hear their barks and see their tails wag with excitement.

Each moment reminded us that all animals have emotions too. They deserve to be loved and cared for. Despite everything they’ve been through, they continue to show trust and warmth to every visitor.

Paw-sitive Steps Ahead

Volunteering at PAWS didn’t just allow us to give back. It re-energized our spirits, gave us time to reflect, reconnect, and return to the grind with renewed purpose. It reminded us that we can live our advocacies meaningfully, both in and out of work.

"Pause for the Paws" may have lasted just one day. But we promise it won’t be the last. We look forward to supporting PAWS PH and other meaningful causes in our future initiatives.

Always remember: when we choose to pause, we create space for connection, compassion, and real change.
